Red Tie Robotics is a high school robotics team based in Danville, California. The team was founded in 2004 and is now in its 14th year of participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). FRC is the uppermost division of the international organization FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). The team tends to average 50-60 high school members each year with about 10 adult mentors and two teacher advisors.
We aim to equip a community of students passionate about science and technology with the skills and initiative to become the next generation of leaders and create positive change in their respective career fields. In robotics, students do not only focus on the technical portions of a robot, but also learn important long-term skills such as time management, cooperation, and professionalism. In addition, students also have the opportunity to work side-by-side with professional mentors, which further helps them prepare for the future.
